The Danish cargo ship Libra, chartered by the Danish Seamen’s Union, docked at Hull carrying foodstuffs and nearly-new children’s clothing for striking miners' families. The 200-tonne delivery was organised by the World Federation of Trade Unions, and paid for by workplace collections in the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Bulgaria, Denmark and Sweden. A team of 30 TGWU Hull dockers unloaded the ship in just under four hours and gave their services free of charge. 13 October 1984
